Maryland Office of the Correctional Ombudsman

Leadership Maryland Executive Program Class of 2026

News |

The Office of the Correctional Ombudsman (OCO) is thrilled to announce that Yvonne Briley-Wilson, Esquire, has been selected as one of 53 outstanding leaders statewide to participate in the Leadership Maryland Executive Program Class of 2026.

As the inaugural Correctional Ombudsman for the State, Briley-Wilson is a distinguished attorney, professor, and executive with a wealth of experience advocating for diverse populations across labor, public defense, corrections, and juvenile services. She was appointed by Governor Moore to establish the OCO as an independent and impartial agency, ensuring transparent oversight of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) and the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS).

“Welcoming a new cohort to our flagship Executive Program is always a highlight of our year, and the Class of 2026 is truly exceptional," stated David Fike ’16 (LM), president and CEO of Leadership Maryland. "Selection for this program is incredibly competitive, and these leaders distinguished themselves not only by their past achievements but also by their genuine dedication to shaping a brighter future for Maryland. We can’t wait to see how they inspire each other and grow together to drive meaningful change across our state.”

This 33rd class will embark on an eight-month, hands-on learning journey focused on addressing Maryland’s most pressing issues, including economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, environmental concerns, and multiculturalism/diversity.

Please join the OCO in congratulating Ombudsman Briley-Wilson. We eagerly anticipate the positive impact she and her class will have on our wonderful State of Maryland.
